Brushes

Artists' brushes are delicate tools or instruments that help you master your painting technique. Good brushes are an investment and you have to treat them as such.

What should I choose short or long handled brushes?
Choosing between short and long handled brushes: It depends on the style of art you choose, if you are working at desk, short is fine, if you are working at easel you might prefer long handled brushes.

Why so many different styles of Brush tips?
Every artist has certain set of favorite brushes, each brush does a particular job perfectly well. They are your faculties to achieve the desired results. Here are just a few uses for each brush style.

Round: Used mostly to do detail work. Has pointed tip with thick bristles.

Flat: Used to paint backgrounds or to spread paint evenly quickly. The bristles are long, easy to create a straight edge.

Bright: Used to create painting that shows brush strokes. Also good to drive the paint into the canvas. You can also create a clean chiseled edge to paint straight lines like far away trees in a scenery etc.

Filbert: Used to blend brush strokes and give a smoothed effect.

Fan: Used to create bushes fast or leaves on trees, also good to create clouds and easy blending brush.

Angle: Used like a filbet and a flat brush, can be used for detail work.

Mop: Used to apply glaze or to apply soft paint nicely blends large areas.

Liner/Rigger: Used to create fine lines.
